The Social and Epistemic Significance of ‘Fake News’ in Cambodia

Fresh news is a popular Khmer-language online media outlet which has emerged for Cambodia’s shift to hegemonic authoritarianism. The emergence has got paralleled a government attack on storage compartments of impartial media that enact the liberal democratic project. New News provides a particular swing in articulating, legitimizing, and seeking to craft support for the regime’s fresh notion of democracy, advertising an ongoing judicialization of mega-politics, and disseminating a talk of ‘fake news’ that looks for to promote an epistemic shift.

Here, I use a great inductive method of analyse the transcripts of formal interviews conducted while using attendees of a day hub and their experiences with reports. The results demonstrate that ‘fake news’ is not simply a partisan political smear but an important component of the socially important dimension of sharing ‘news’. Attendants understand the ‘news’ they present to one another within their info while older individuals, and this enhances a sense of belonging within their home life framework.

In light of this finding, I just consider the implications in the broader interpersonal and epistemic significance of this post-truth second. In this perception, the term mirrors more than just a time marked by an erosion of truth, facticity, and civility in discourse and public life; it also signals the break down of modern tasks of disciplining knowledge.
